During the operation of a CNC lathe, if the bearing temperature is too high, we must promptly handle it. This situation is still quite dangerous. If the temperature continues to rise, it is easy to cause a fire. 1. The function of guide bearings

The purpose of setting up guide bearings on CNC lathes is to restrict the generator spindle from operating within the specified clearance range of the guide bearings and bearing the radial load on the generator spindle.

2. Working principle of guide bearing

The working principle of thin oil lubricated block bearing is mainly to use lubricating oil to enter the joint surface of the bearing and journal during high-speed rotation of the unit, to lubricate the bearing. The lubricated hot oil is cooled by the oil cooler and then enters the joint surface of the bearing and journal again. As the unit operates, the lubricating oil automatically circulates and cools back and forth. When the main shaft rotates, a stable oil wedge is formed between the journal and the bearing surface to withstand radial load and transmit it to the guide bearing seat, and then to the frame.

3. Composition of guide bearing

The guide bearing of CNC lathe is a thin oil lubricated block tile type bearing, mainly composed of accessory components such as bearing cover, lubricating oil tank, cooler, return oil pipe, bearing shell, bearing seat, load-bearing screw, and thermometer. The guide bearing pads of the two units in Station B are divided into eight pads, which are evenly distributed on the generator main shaft guide journal according to the circumference.

4. Analysis of the causes of bearing temperature increase and unit vibration increase

Based on the observation of operation and analysis of maintenance, we believe that there are two main reasons for the increase in bearing temperature and unit vibration:

① The increase in bearing clearance, which is much greater than the design requirement clearance, makes it difficult for lubricating oil to form an oil wedge after entering the water guide bearing surface, resulting in poor lubrication and leading to an increase in guide bearing temperature and unit vibration;

② The contact points on the bearing pad surface are too few, and the contact surfaces are insufficient to meet the equipment specification requirements.

5. Solution to temperature increase of guide bearing

According to the manufacturer's design requirements, when the maximum cooling water temperature of the CNC lathe unit does not exceed 25 ℃ under continuous operation conditions, the maximum temperature of both the bearing temperature and oil temperature should not exceed 65 ℃. The temperature of the bearing pad and oil is not only related to the temperature of the cooling water, but also to the circulation of lubricating oil and the clearance between the bearing pad and the main shaft journal.
